Natural Interaction Behavior (NIB)
3M NIB technology is designed to help improve intra-team, proximity communications in noise. When two or more NIB-enabled headsets are within the NIB's operational bubble, which is a 5-10 meter radius, the headsets connect automatically and allow headset-toheadset communications without the need for an externally connected radio.

NIB Transmitting: NIB offers four full-duplex channels for simultaneous transmission. If the four channels are open, a fifth person wanting to transmit must wait for an open channel.
NIB Receiving: While only 4 people can speak simultaneously, over 60 people within the 5-10 meter radius are able to listen at any given time.
No NIB: The NIB function disconnects automatically whenever a team member leaves the perimeter.
Fail Safe Communications
External radio RX/TX communications are independent of headset battery power in ComTac VI Tactical Headsets. In the event of battery depletion, external communications will continue to function. The ComTac VI Tactical Headset does not require power to receive and transmit external radio communications.
Environmental Listening for Auditory Situational Awareness | Environmental Listening Function
3M PELTOR ComTac VI Tactical Headsets provide environmental listening to assist in auditory situational awareness when wearing the headset. The proprietary level-dependent digital audio circuit, in conjunction with two external environmental microphones, senses environmental sounds and reproduces those sounds inside the 3M™ PELTOR™ headset. This environmental listening capability offers amplification of soft sounds and electronic compression of loud sounds picked up by the environmental microphones.
